Alpera is an assistant you text or call. To do things for you it needs to see what you ask, and sometimes to use your accounts. The short version: we use your information only to provide the Service to you. We don't use it to train AI models, we don't use it for advertising, we don't sell it, and we keep it only as long as we need it to serve you.
1. Who we are
Alpera AI, Inc. ("Alpera," "we," "us") provides the Alpera assistant, available by iMessage, WhatsApp, SMS and phone call, along with our websites at alpera.ai and app.alpera.ai (together, the "Service"). This policy applies to personal information we process through the Service. When a business deploys Alpera for its team under a separate agreement, that agreement also governs how we handle the business's data.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and account details. Your phone number, name and email address, including the email you give us to request early access.
- Your conversations with Alpera. Messages, photos, files, voice notes and polls you send, and the audio and transcripts of calls you have with Alpera.
- Things you ask Alpera to remember. Contacts, addresses, preferences and other details you share so Alpera can use them later.
- Vault items. Sign-in details and other sensitive information you choose to save in your Vault so Alpera can complete tasks for you, such as ordering from a store where you have an account.
- Team information. If you use Alpera with a team, the people you invite, their roles, and what you share with them.
Information from services you connect
When you connect an account, such as Google Calendar, Gmail, Link or QuickBooks, we receive the information that service makes available under the permissions you approve, for example calendar events, email you ask Alpera to read or send, or invoices. Alpera suggests a connection only when a task needs it, and nothing is connected without your approval.
Payments
Purchases are approved in Link, operated by Stripe. Stripe processes your payment methods under its own privacy policy. To complete a purchase you approve, Alpera may receive order details and a payment credential issued for that purchase, which it uses only to complete that purchase.
Information about other people
When you ask Alpera to contact someone, such as a contractor, supplier or customer, we process that person's name, contact details and the messages or calls exchanged with them. Please share other people's information only when you are allowed to.
Information collected automatically
When you use our websites, we and our hosting providers collect technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, pages requested and timestamps, for security and reliability and to understand how our website is used, such as which pages are visited, which site referred a visitor and the approximate country. For website analytics we use Vercel Web Analytics, which does not use cookies, and Google Analytics, which sets first-party cookies to recognize returning visitors. We turned off Google's optional data sharing, advertising features and Google signals, and we see only aggregated reports, not who you are. You can block these cookies in your browser or use Google's opt-out browser add-on. We also use cookies that are necessary to sign you in and to return you to the right conversation. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
3. How we use information
We use your information only to provide the Service to you. That means:
- To do what you ask. Research, compare options, message and call people for you, schedule, use connected services, place purchases you approve and keep dashboards current.
- To follow up. Send reminders you set, and let you know when something needs your attention, such as a quote that hasn't arrived.
- To run your account. Sign you in, keep your conversations and Vault available to you, answer your support requests and send you messages about your account.
- To keep your account safe. Prevent fraud and abuse, secure your account, and meet our legal obligations.
We don't use your information for anything else. We do not use it to train AI models, including our own, we do not use it for advertising or marketing to others, and we do not sell it.
5. Google user data
If you connect a Google account, Alpera accesses only the Google data needed for the features you use, such as reading your calendar to find free times or sending an email you asked Alpera to send. Alpera's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, we do not sell it, we do not use it to train generalized AI models, and people do not read it unless you ask us to, it is needed for security, or the law requires it. When Alpera works on a task that involves Google user data, our AI model providers process that data only to complete the task you asked for; they may not keep it for their own purposes or use it to train their models. You can disconnect your Google account at any time, and Alpera deletes the Google data it holds for you when you do, unless the law requires us to keep it.
6. Text messages and calls
We use your phone number to deliver the Service: to send and receive messages, sign-in codes, reminders and follow-ups, and to place and receive calls. Your mobile number and messaging consent are not shared with third parties for their own marketing. Message and data rates may apply. You can ask Alpera to stop messaging you at any time, or contact us, and we will stop sending messages other than those needed to finish something you asked for.
7. Security
We protect information with access controls, encryption in transit, and encryption of Vault items at rest. Each customer's assistant runs in its own environment. Sensitive steps, such as payments, require your approval. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us right away.
8. How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as we need it to provide the Service to you. Some things are kept because they are the Service: your Vault, the contacts and preferences you ask Alpera to remember, your reminders and your dashboards. They stay until you delete them or close your account. When you delete a Vault item, disconnect a service or ask us to delete your account, we delete the related information, unless the law requires us to keep a specific record for longer.
9. Your choices and rights
- Review and correct. Ask Alpera what it has saved, edit your Vault, or contact us.
- Disconnect services. Remove a connected account at any time; you can also revoke access from that provider's settings.
- Control sharing. Change team roles, remove members, and revoke shared dashboards.
- Delete. Ask us to delete your account and personal information by writing to info@alpera.ai.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information. To make a request, contact us. We will verify your request, usually through the phone number or email on your account, and respond as the law requires.
10. California residents
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to access and delete it; to correct inaccurate information; to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; to limit the use of sensitive personal information; and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law, and we use sensitive personal information, such as account sign-in details you save in your Vault, only to provide the Service you request. You or an authorized agent can make a request at info@alpera.ai.
In the past 12 months we have collected the categories of information described in section 2: identifiers and contact details, customer records, commercial information such as purchases you approve, internet activity on our websites, audio from calls, and inferences about your preferences from your requests. We collect them from you, from services you connect, and from people you ask Alpera to contact, for the purposes in section 3, and disclose them to the recipients in section 4.
11. Children
The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service changes. We will post the new version here with a new date, and if a change is significant we will tell you by message or email before it takes effect.
